The Jet JWBS Bandsaw, Product Overview
This thing is a beast. By far one of the consistently best bandsaws on the market. I love the versatility and durability of these machines. I am currently restoring one of these bandsaws and they are just built so well. Taking this thing apart, regardless of the rust this mistreated machine has built up, shows how the Jet frame and mechanics are still solid.
The Model that I’m talking about today is the one with 18 inch wheels and a 1.5 horsepower engine.
The JWBS models all use the more square based body which some say makes it bulkier. I personally like the more squarish shape as it gives me a better feeling of being secure. I also think they are a little bit easier to modify adjust and service these bad boys.

Aight, so the 18 inch model obviously comes with an 18 inch wheel and a choice of 1.5 or 3 horsepower motors.
One tricky part to this machine that i found out the hard way is that depending on how old your machine is it will take differently sized blades.The new models all rock the 150″ blades and really rip. However, if you (like me) are using a model made before 2014 you will need a 133″ blade. So becareful when you reorder.
It comes with a 27-1/4″ x 20″ cast iron base plate and a drop down guide that opens up 16″ total.
If you pop on the little roller attachment this thing moves pretty freely but if not and if you are alone this is a struggle to move single-handedly. I really suggest getting the wheely piece if your not positive of where it will live yet.
Final Thoughts
I really think the title says it all the jet JWBS model bandsaw really is my favorite bandsaw. This machine is consistently dependable. I’ve been inside this thing in good times and bad.
After ripping apart and restoring an old forgotten one and seeing just how it could age.
After years of use with no issues.
I can truly say that this machine is a must for any woodworker.

My uncle is a woodmaker and he want to buy a new bandsaw, so this one looks good enough to add in his favorite woodmaking equipment. It’s nice to hear that this machine doesn’t get rusty fast for many years. Is it easy to use for beginner woodmaker? My uncle is hiring new staffs, so I imagine that the new bandsaw should have been easy to use for beginners too. Thanks
